Thesis and non-thesis options
The master of science in environmental engineering can be completed with or without a thesis. The thesis option is 30 credits, consisting of eight 3-credit courses and a 6-credit thesis. The non-thesis option consists of 11 3-credit courses.
Background Requirements
A BS degree in civil, chemical or mechanical engineering is normally required. Students with a BS in other engineering disciplines as well as physical and life sciences are eligible, provided they meet the requirements below:
- Mathematics and Science (minimum 4 units equivalent to 12 3-credit courses).
- Mathematics must include differential and integral calculus and differential equations.
- Science must include both chemistry and physics with a minimum of two courses in either.
- Fluid Mechanics (An online independent study in fluid mechanics is available for graduate-level students).
